Youth for Social Harmony in the Fergana Valley

Project summary:

The project aims to support communities to better adapt to the rapid reform process in Uzbekistan, while enabling local service providers to deliver the reform agenda in an inclusive manner. This project focuses on young people as a fast growing demographic and the future of the country, and aims to ensure that they are not left behind in the context of the rapid changes linked to the reform process. In practical terms, the project aims to ensure that young women and young men continue to have equitable access to socio-economic opportunities and benefit from its positive outcomes, while enabling them to have a stronger say about their future.

Expected results:

  • Organize trainings, educational programs and summer camps for selected young women and men from targeted areas to strengthen leadership, communication, mediation and advocacy skills enabling them to act as essential partners for change in their communities and encourage their civic participation and engagement in promoting rule of law and sustaining peace.
  • Conduct training for representatives of youth unions in targeted areas in order to facilitate dialogue platforms for youth to voice their opinion and concerns.
  • Trainings on management, innovation, business and budget planning, loan applications, sustainable investment for young women and men.
  • Pilots, small grants, innovation initiatives or mini-projects for the vulnerable groups (with the focus on women, youth) to practice with social enterprises, micro-grants for innovative ideas, promotion of startup culture etc.
  • Conduct start-up contests, open data hackathons, women coders initiative, Technovation challenge initiatives.
  • Provide School Leavers in Ferghana valley with the Guide to Getting a Job in Uzbekistan and Globally.
  • Assess the Media and Information Literacy of the youth in the Ferghana valley.
