From 28 to 30 September 2021 a series of workshops on "Issues and Prospects of Pasture Use in Mountain and Foothill Areas" are being held in the forestry units of Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions within the joint UNDP and GEF joint project "Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Forest Management in Key Mountain Regions Important for Globally Significant Biodiversity”, implemented under the support of the State Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection.

The workshops are attended by the forestry staff and pasture users, as well as the PhD students who are getting acquainted with the results of scientific research conducted in the project’s pilot area to ensure sustainability.

Participants and lecturers of the event are discussing vital topics on the implementation of pasture management plans within the forestry units and issues about leasing forest areas.

The key topics covered during the workshop include - pasture use, nursery development, seed production of non-invasive pasture crops, and many other issues. In addition, during the workshops, the lecturers and participants are sharing their experience in restoration of degraded lands and discussing practical cases.

These series of workshops are focused on developing the capacity of forestry workers and pasture users. It is expected that they will also help to increase the effectiveness of the restoration of forests in the arid conditions of mountain and foothill areas.
