The 2nd call for business proposals on uranium heritage territories has been announced

EU Funded United Nations Development Program “Stakeholder Engagement for Uranium Legacy Remediation in Central Asia. Phase II” Project announces a competition for the selection of business projects for financing/co-financing and implementation at the pilot areas of Yangiabad (Tashkent region) and Charkesar (Namangan region). The competition is aimed at developing business competencies of the entrepreneurs and providing jobs in the target areas of the project.

The allocated amount for co-financing is up to 10 000 USD.

Applications are accepted until July 25, 2021.

The main goal of competition?

The main goal of the competition is to create jobs, providing employment for women/girls, vulnerable categories of the population, identifying and promoting the development of business initiatives in Charkesar (Namangan region) and Yangiabad (Tashkent region).

Who can participate in the competition?

Companies operating in the target areas of the project with the involvement of populations of the target communities are invited to participate. Preference in selection will be given to projects in the field of "green" entrepreneurship.

Important: Financial support for business projects selected within the framework of the competition is carried out through the purchase of equipment, office appliances, building materials, etc. according to the presented business plan. Grant support is not provided either in cash or in order to increase floating capital.

How are business projects selected?

- All applications are received and processed until July 25 (18:00) inclusive;

- Potential participants of competition submit information according to the form *

- The best selected business projects are presented to the members of the selection committee;

- A selection committee (from representatives of government agencies, expert communities and UNDP projects) selects the winners by assigning points. The projects with the maximum number of points are announced as the winners of the competition;
