UN Assistant Secretary General and Director of the UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (RBEC) to visit Uzbekistan

10 June 2021 – Ms. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, United Nations Assistant Secretary General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States will visit Uzbekistan on 14-16 June, 2021. 

During her visit, Ms. Spoljaric Egger will meet with senior officials of the Government of Uzbekistan and partners to discuss emerging areas of cooperation between UNDP and the Government, and reconfirm UNDP’s commitment to support Uzbekistan’s people-centred, green and resilient development, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. UNDP stands ready to support Government efforts to further advance SDG integration through a combination of policy choices and investments in governance, social protection, green economy, and digitalization – the four areas titled as ‘SDG Push’. 

On Tuesday 15 June, Ms. Spoljaric Egger will participate at the Forum on Women’s Economic Empowerment in Central Asia and Afghanistan. The next day, Ms. Spoljaric Egger will attend an equipment hand-over ceremony at the ‘Ishga Marhamat’ Monocenter jobs center.
