The Youth Affairs Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the UN Development Program, on February 18 at 10:00 (Tashkent time), plans to hold an  international video-conference in Tashkent at the “Hyatt Regency Tashkent” hotel on the topic: “The Role of Youth in Countering Radicalism, Extremism and Terrorism” via offline and online formats.

The purpose of the videoconference is to attract attention and unite the efforts of the SCO, CIS, CICA member states and UN in countering radicalism, extremism and terrorism among young people.

Event organizers: Youth Affairs Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Youth Union of Uzbekistan, German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), UNESCO, OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Country Office  UNDP Uzbekistan and the UN Regional Office for Crime and Drugs in Central Asia.

The videoconference will be split into four sessions to discuss the following topics:

I SESSION

Legal and institutional framework for countering terrorism and radicalization among young people: international and national aspects

II SESSION

Role of civil society institutions in countering radicalism, extremism and terrorism among youth

III SESSION

Innovative approaches and the role of youth organizations in the prevention of extremism and terrorism

IV SESSION

Preventing violent extremism on social media

The event will be attended by international and local experts, representatives of youth and law enforcement agencies, security organizations and member states of the SCO, CICA, CIS, as well as international organizations OSCE, GIZ, UNDP, UNODC (200 people in total).
