Uzbekistan’s dynamics in Doing Business 2019 ranking: trading across borders, construction permits and resolving insolvency

April 24, 2019

The reforms carried out in Uzbekistan contributed to a significant jump in the republic’s rating in the World Bank’s Doing Business 2018 report from 87th place in 2017 to 74th place among 190 countries of the world. In the next Doing Business 2019 report, the rating of the Republic of Uzbekistan decreased from 74 to 76 positions.

The government acknowledged that business conditions in Uzbekistan are still not fully compliant with international standards, and in this connection, Presidential Decree No. PP-3852 was adopted, aimed at promoting Uzbekistan’s position in the rating by creating the most favorable business environment in the country.

To assess the changes taking place and to study the perception of the business environment, business representatives organized this study. It is aimed at studying problems and developing recommendations in the areas related to the indicators “International Trade”, “Obtaining Construction Permits”, “Resolution of Insolvency”, where the positions of Uzbekistan remain in the most stagnant position.
