Recommendations for use of milled glauconite sand as fertilizer in the agricultural sector in Karakalpakstan

Due to the scarcity of water resources in Karakalpakstan, it becomes a real problem to restore the soil fertility, as well as replace expensive mineral fertilizers imported from abroad with local ones to improve the environmental situation caused by mineral fertilizers.

Based on research conducted in Karakalpakstan the publication draws of properties of glauconite sand, methods of its application and potential benefits. It also contains information on its water retaining features that enables to use the water resources more rationally.

Current edition is developed within the framework of joint project of UNDP in Uzbekistan and Centre of Hydrometeorological Service at Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan “Developing climate resilience of farming communities in the drought prone parts of Uzbekistan” funded by the Adaptation Fund of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
