‘Strengthening Disaster Risk Management Capacities in Uzbekistan’: Final Project Report

January 12, 2016

This report contains a brief review of the activities and tells about the progress, efforts and results achieved by the joint project of UNDP, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan and other partners ‘Strengthening Disaster Risk Management Capacities in Uzbekistan’.

What makes this project important and relevant is Uzbekistan’s location in a highly earthquake-prone area with numerous mudflow, landslide and avalanche risk zones. These factors call for the development of adequate measures to manage various disaster risks through the involvement of all the stakeholders.

One of the most crucial challenges is to develop a disaster risk reduction culture among the civilians. This was the key goal of the project that worked from 2011 through 2016.
