Integrated Planning to Use Natural Resources: Key ComponentsAug 19, 2015
A two-day workshop focusing on the sctructural componets of integrated planning to use natural resources will take place at the Khokimiyat of the Zaamin District on August 19-20. The organizer of the event is the joint UNDP/GEF/Covernment of Uzbekistan project ‘Reducing Pressures on Natural Resources from Competing Land Use in Non-Irrigated Arid Mountain, Semi-Desert and Desert Landscapes of Uzbekistan’.
Rural community leaders, dehkans and large farmers involved in dry-land farming, cattle breeders, professors from the Zaamin Agriculture College, local authorities, representatives from the Council of Farmers and other institutions will attend the workshop.
Professionals in the sector will give presentations on how to improve dry-land farming effectiveness and productivity using resource-efficient technologies. The event will also include a social survey of the participants to learn their prospects on the problems of dry-land farming.
The workshop will also present the project’s plans to halt and reverse pasture degradation as well as the technologies to improve the quality of forage crops.
Attenders of the event will discuss the opportunities to enhance the national pasture use legislation and learn about on-going gender initiatives to introduce sustainable land use practices that will benefit rural communities in term of income generation.
The key objective of the workshop is to inform the local communities of the project implementation progress and introduce the structural components of integrated planning to use natural resources.
