    On 9 June 2015, the UN Office in Uzbekistan and the Government of Uzbekistan signed the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) for 2016-2020. To highlight this milestone event, on 16 September 2015, the UN Office in Uzbekistan will hold an official ceremony to launch the UNDAF and announce the start of a new phase of cooperation between the UN and Uzbekistan.

    UNDP project "Promotion of e-government to improve the quality of provision of e-services" in cooperation with the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan held the first Hackathon in Uzbekistan to develop applications using open data - Data.gov.uz Hackathon. Hackathon was held in the framework of the ICT Week 2015, where the Center for development of e-government system and the Center "Uzinfocom" also took part.

    The draft of Jizzakh city Development Strategy has been developed within the framework of UNDP Project "Local Governance Support Programme / Phase-2" (LGSP-2) in cooperation with the Jizzakh city khokimiyat and experts from the Ministry of Economy. The document is comprised of a set of priorities, methods and objectives of sustainable economic and social development of Jizzakh city for 2016-2024.

    The Cabinet of Ministers issued on 10 August 2015 its resolution ‘on measures to strengthen targeted social protection and support for the lonely elderly and people with disabilities’ to implement the Presidential order under the national ‘Year of Care for the Elderly’ program. The resolution extends the list of people who are eligible for public social services and support, introduces new types of services and new procedures to provide these services.

    A two-day workshop focusing on the sctructural componets of integrated planning to use natural resources will take place at the Khokimiyat of the Zaamin District on August 19-20. The organizer of the event is the joint UNDP/GEF/Covernment of Uzbekistan project ‘Reducing Pressures on Natural Resources from Competing Land Use in Non-Irrigated Arid Mountain, Semi-Desert and Desert Landscapes of Uzbekistan’.

  • Promoting openness and accessibility of courts Aug 18, 2015

    August 18, 2015 - a press-tour of the courts introducing "E-SUD" electronic case management system was conducted in the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as at Zangiata and Mirzo-Ulugbek interdistrict civil courts. The “E-SUD” electronic case management system allows the citizens to file cases to courts electronically, while enabling receipt of case related information, including court’s determinations and decisions quickly and in the accessible form. The press-tour was organized within the framework of the joint project of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) "Rule of Law Partnership in Uzbekistan".

    Current requirements for producers of fruits and vegetables include assurance that their product is grown in safe settings and with the environment in mind. New requests from consumers, international retail chains and legislation have led to the emergence of new requirements for farmers and producers. According to the new quality standards, applied production techniques are aimed at minimizing detrimental environmental impacts of farming operations, reducing the use of chemical inputs and ensuring a responsible approach to use of natural resources.
