    Information and Communication Technologies Week – ICTWEEK 2016 – will take place in Uzbekistan on September 19-23, 2016. The main purpose of this annual digital even is to discuss key achievements in ICT development in Uzbekistan, to demonstrate success stories of ICT implementation in different areas, to identify new trends in information technologies development, to facilitate ICT development in Uzbekistan and to enhance international cooperation in this field.

  • Ozone and climate: Restored by a world united Sep 16, 2016

    September 16 – the date on which the entire world community celebrates the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. This designation was made after UN General Assembly adopted the resolution in 1994 to commemorate the signing of the Montreal Protocol – the most powerful policy tool for issues to prevent negative effects of ozone depletion.

  • A step forward in strengthening Uzbekistan’s readiness for accessing climate finance from the Green Climate Fund Jul 21, 2016

    Overall in the Central Asia region, and in particular in Uzbekistan there is an observed trend of increased climate warming. According to the UNEP aridity index , most of Uzbeksitan’s territory is characterized by increasing aridity. It is classified as a drought zone, suseptible to land degrdation and desertification. The annual average temperature has increased by 0.29 0C for each 10 years, which implies higher vulnerability to the effects of climate change by population and territories, than in some other countries, as intensity of warming is taking place at double the average pace for the world.

  • Estonian E-Governance Specialist Visits Uzbekistan Jul 18, 2016

    Estonian electronic governance specialist Dr. Villem Alango visited Uzbekistan for a 2-week mission, within the framework of the ‘Improving quality of service delivery for persons with disabilities and lonely elderly people’ Project. Drawing on Estonia’s experience in providing electronically-delivered public services in the social protection, health, property management, and other fields, this visit was a key opportunity for information exchange.

  • Improving the quality and sustainability of Central Asia’s fruit and nut industry Jul 13, 2016

    The three-day ‘Agri-Food Supply Chains in Cross-Border Trade of Nuts and Dried Fruit’ workshop was held in Tashkent from the 11th to the 13th of July – the first of its kind in Uzbekistan, bringing together international experts, UNECE , UNDP and GIZ representatives, as well as regional public and private sector representatives. These participants have exchanged knowledge about improving food quality, food safety, and sustainable agricultural trade in Central Asia.

    In Bukhara, 112 boys and girls from all over the country demonstrated their knowledge in protection of population in emergencies, skills in premedical first aid, capabilities to use different accessories and to take vital decision within a very short time.

  • National workshop discussed the issues of professional rehabilitation for persons with disabilities Jun 17, 2016

    Business center Poytaht hosted the national workshop dedicated to the issues of professional rehabilitation and employment of persons with disabilities (PWD). The event was organized by the Republican inspection for medical and social expertise of the Republican Pension Fund under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with UNDP.

  • The Supreme Court held a press conference on ICTs introduction to courts Jun 10, 2016

    The Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan conducted a press-conference at the National Press-Centre of Uzbekistan, aimed at discussing the introduction of ICTs in courts and their positive effect on the quality and efficiency of justice process. The joint project of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Development Programme “Rule of Law Partnership in Uzbekistan” participated in the press-conference. The event engaged journalists and representatives of print, television and radio media outlets. Kholmumin Yodgorov, Chairperson of the Judicial Board on Civil Cases of the Supreme Court answered the questions of the participants.

  • Tashkent region media representatives acquaint with open data Jun 7, 2016

    A training seminar on “Open data section on official websites of government bodies and using the open data portal” was held at the “Poytakht” business center. It was organized by Tashkent regional khokimiyat in cooperation with UNDP “Local Government Support Programme /Phase 2” project.
