  • UN in Uzbekistan supports the Global Campaign Against Gender Based Violence Nov 25, 2016

    The United Nations System in Uzbekistan supports the global call for the elimination of all forms of violence against women. Every year, the campaign entitled “16 Days of Activism against gender based violence” is marked globally. It starts on the International Day against Violence against Women (25 November) and ends on the International Human Rights Day (10 December), symbolically linking these occasions together to send the message that violence against women is an act of violation against human rights.

  • Latvian Regional Development practice discussed in Tashkent Nov 18, 2016

    A number of senior employees responsible for regional development of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance, khokimiyats of Jizzakh, Namangan and Tashkent regions visited Latvia on September 4-12, 2016 to learn the Latvian practice of regional governance and development. The study tour was organized by the UNDP and the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to еру Articles 63 and 64 of the Constitution, "The family is the primary unit of the society and shall have the right to protection of the society and state” and “Parents shall be obliged to support and care for their children until the latter are of age".

    A Regional Conference Towards a Common Vision for Agenda 2030 in Central Asia started today in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The event was initiated and organized by UNDP, UNEP and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC).

  • Events on disaster reduction were held in Uzbekistan Oct 31, 2016

    To celebrate an International Day for Disaster Reduction a number of global initiatives have been held during these days all over the world. Every year, on October the 13th, this global event is reflected in the nationwide activities on raising awareness about the required actions to reduce disaster risk, which are also held in our country. This year, the target audience includes both the specialists in health and safety, research of natural hazards and their impacts, representatives of ministries and agencies, and also those to whom the knowledge of basic norms and behavioural rules (Dos and Don'ts) will help to avoid different injuries and losses among families and friends.

  • Uzbek delegation visited Latvia to study its e-services Oct 21, 2016

    A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited Latvia on October 16-21, 2016 to learn the Latvian practice of streamlining public service delivery mechanisms through e-government. The study tour was organized by the UNDP Uzbekistan project "E-Government Promotion for Improved Public Service Delivery" and the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  • Challenges of Modern Seismology discussed in Tashkent Oct 12, 2016

    On October 12, 2016, a three-day International Conference “Actual Issues of Modern Seismology – TASECO 2016”, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Tashkent Earthquake and founding of the Institute of Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, commenced its work in the capital city Business Centre “Poytaht”. Prof. Lutpullaev S.L., acting President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Mr. Aripov K.M., First Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan, and Mr. Garakhanov F., UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Uzbekistan opened the conference with their welcoming speeches where they underlined the significance of holding the event in this format with participation of global-level experts.

  • Academy of Public Administration and UNDP to launch a joint project “Support to civil service training in Uzbekistan” Oct 6, 2016

    On October 6, 2016, a local project appraisal committee meeting took place between representatives of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (APA) and UNDP Uzbekistan to endorse a new joint project ‘Support to Civil Service Training in Uzbekistan’. The new project is designed to further enhance civil service training and re-training framework in Uzbekistan.

  • Building-up efforts for biodiversity conservation Oct 5, 2016

    Biological diversity is about having a variety among living organisms, including diversity within species, between species and of ecosystems. The main threats to biodiversity today are habitat degradation, over-exploitation, pollution, invasion of non-native species, and climate change. UNDP and the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan have a long-standing successful cooperation on biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resources management of ecosystems of Uzbekistan rich in unique biodiversity. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by these two parties has further strengthened this synergy.

  • Shifting from traditional approaches to intensive horticulture Oct 5, 2016

    In October 2016, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of UNDP’s ‘Business Forum of Uzbekistan (Phase III)’ project will organize series of workshops in six regions of the country. Around 600 farmers will benefit and increase their knowledge on modern apple growing techniques, as well as develop practical skills to improve the efficiency of gardening.
