  • Estonia’s experience: What can judges from Uzbekistan learn from the high-tech leader?Nov 15, 2015November 15-20, 2015 – Judges of Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, Supreme Economic Court of Uzbekistan, regional civil courts and interdistrict civil courts of Tashkent, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications are visiting Estonia with an aim to explore its experience in developing and implementing ICTs in courts. The study tour is organized by the joint project of Supreme Court, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and United Nations Development Programme “Rule of Law Partnership in Uzbekistan” in cooperation with the e-Governance Academy of Estonia.

  • Adaption rather than confrontation – right strategy for increasing climate resilienceNov 12, 2015Increasing climate resilience is a sensitive and mostly discussed issue in environmental circles all over the world. Subject matter experts and scientists capable to put forward innovative solutions to this global issue are getting involved in the process of finding the solution. Negative climate changes, without a doubt, pose a serious threat, in particular, to the developing Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan. So, the Aral Sea area, representing a part of the region, has been heavily affected by severe impacts of climate changes associated with degradation of the Aral Sea.

  • Introduction of ICTs to courts: workshop for attorneysOct 21, 2015October 20-21, 2015 – more than 30 practicing attorneys from Tashkent and Tashkent region participated in a workshop on introduction of ICTs in courts and improvement of civil litigation process. The workshop was held at “Poytakht” Business Center and organized by the joint project of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) "Rule of Law Partnership in Uzbekistan" in cooperation with the Chamber of Lawyers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It can be confirmed on the example of the Ustyurt Plateau with its highly valued biodiversity where numerous endangered species of flora and fauna inhabit. In its turn, rich reserves of mineral resources, including hydrocarbons, in this area encourage dynamic growth of the oil and gas industry and cause development of the area. The scaled researches and exploration of hydrocarbon fields in this area being aimed at realization of the key tasks, as to form a sustainable raw base in the oil and gas industry providing energy independence of the republic that also requires extension of the social responsibility for the oil and gas companies which are to provide the ecologic safety, minimizing influence on the environment and biodiversity.

  • The long-awaited Velokvest is successfully completed!Oct 11, 2015On Sunday, October 11 in Tashkent the game - Velokvest 2015 was successfully hosted, dedicated to the World Day without cars, which is celebrated annually in many countries around the world on September 22. The game Velokvest was held at the Botanical Garden of the Institute of the gene pool of flora and fauna of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. 8 teams of 4 people participated in the game. Each team received eight tasks. Targets were the same for all teams; the difference was only in the fact that each team began the task in a different sequence. Velokvest is not a race. The important thing is not to move and ride the bicycle fast but quickly and correctly solve problems and distribute tasks among the team members.

  • The Community Health Volunteers of Karakalpakstan co-winners of the Peoples’ Voices AwardSep 28, 2015The Community Health Volunteers of Karakalpakstan – working along with UN Joint Programme “Sustaining Livelihoods Affected by the Aral Sea Disaster” have been selected as the co-winner of the Peoples’ Voices Award in the category of “Longstanding contribution to Millennium Development Goals achievement through volunteering”. The award was given at a ceremony held during the Post-2015 Summit at the UN headquarters in New York on Friday 25th of September. The volunteers sent their greetings and thanks to the award committee via video message. Their message was well received and applauded by the award ceremony audience.

As a result, rapidly growing economy has been leading to an increase in the number of economic disputes, which need to be resolved quickly and efficiently in a transparent and open commercial litigation process.
