Uzbekistan is lucky to be blessed with some of the key resources needed for fish farming, particularly in its foothill regions that make up 25 per cent of the nation’s countryside, and the potential to streamline and expand the nation’s existing fish farming industry is significant. The raw resources needed to enhance this industry already exists in Uzbekistan, so all that’s needed to make fish farming even stronger is improved national knowledge about the field.

One of the significant factors of effectiveness to combat the HIV epidemic is to implement successful prevention practices and programs among most-at-risk populations (MARPs). Today, within the framework of the UNDP ‘Continuing Scale Up of the Response to HIV’ (funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria), a number of HIV prevention services will be made available to MARPs in Uzbekistan.

Understanding trends in Uzbekistan’s cultural perceptions requires knowledge of the roles individual citizens play in their country. It also requires processing large quantities of statistical data, and understanding the meaning behind that information.

Registering Businesses Online: A Progressive Step Forward in Improving Uzbekistan’s Business Environment
According to the law, state registration of enterprises and entrepreneurs as business entities is a starting point for any business. Given that the state registration for businesses is mandatory, the number of entrepreneurs is rising, and that technologies are spreading at a high speed, the President of Uzbekistan arranged to simplify business registration process (see Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 18.07.2012 № UP - 4455).

On this World AIDS Day, I am more optimistic than ever. Much of the world is accelerating progress in responding to HIV. There are significant decreases in new infections and deaths, and we are making good progress in realizing our target of ensuring 15 million people have access to antiretroviral treatment by 2015. This is crucial to halting and reversing the AIDS epidemic for good.
