‘UzTrade’ Electronic Trade Platform: Expanding opportunities for exporters in UzbekistanApr 26, 2016
UNDP’s Aid for Trade project, jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan (MFERIT) have finalized the development of the ‘UzTrade’ electronic trade platform. To launch the new portal, local partners and entrepreneurs have been invited to the Presentation to be held at the ‘Wyndham’ Hotel on May 3, 2016.
To encourage exports, the Government of Uzbekistan has established the broad system of export benefits and preferences, simplified trade procedures and created dedicated export promotion agencies, providing support to local enterprises in accessing foreign markets. At the same time the analysis of experience of countries that succeeded in active promotion of their exports shows that they also promoted sophisticated e-commerce tools, which served as a driving force for trade development, especially of SMEs.
In this context, development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has been declared as one of the priority strategies in Uzbekistan and the Government is increasing its efforts to integrate enterprises and export promotion agencies into leading e-commerce marketsand enhance participation of local producers and exporters on global online trade platforms.
As part of these efforts, MFERIT has worked in cooperation with UNDP’s Aid for Trade Project to develop ‘UzTrade’ electronic trade platform (www.tradeuzbekistan.com), designed to promote exports of local enterprises, especially of SMEs.
May’s event at the ‘Wyndham’ Hotel will present the different features of the ‘UzTrade’ web platform. The first portal of its kind in Uzbekistan, it allows enterprises to create their own company web pages, each containing information about the enterprise itself, its products, terms of delivery and export prices. The purpose of this arrangement is to make information as accessible as possible, and thereby serve as a means of attracting potential foreign buyers.
The platform also allows local enterprises to create individual pages for their key personnel. This personalized feature helps to improve customer relations and the arrangement of bilateral negotiations with potential importers, regarding contract terms and conditions. For exporter’s convenience, ‘UzTrade’ provides an option of drafting pro-forma export contracts and then customizing them as necessary. Via ‘UzTrade’ exporters can also contact the MFERIT and ‘Uztadbirkoreksport’ Foreign Trade Company, and request their support in marketing and facilitating export activities.
The presentation ‘‘UzTrade’ Electronic Trade Platform: Expanding opportunities for exporters in Uzbekistan’ will be held on May 3, 2016 at the ‘Wyndham’ Hotel, beginning at 10:00am.
