Introduction of ICT in Employment and Social ProtectionDec 10, 2013
Joint press conference of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan (UNDP) on introduction of ICT in the area of employment and social protection of population was held today at the National Press Centre of Uzbekistan.
The joint project of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population and UNDP ‘Inclusive Employment and Social Partnership’ developed several applications and software products: Unified information system (UIS) ‘Labour Market’, online job system and an Interactive map of social services in Uzbekistan.
UIS ‘Labour Market’ allows the Ministry to monitor the activities of 193 Centres for Employment Support and Social Protection and receive reports and statistical information on ‘real-time’ mode.
Information about vacant and reserved (for vulnerable groups) jobs, as well as about job seekers gathered by Centres for Employment Support and Social Protection and placed in the UIS is displayed in the online system on ‘real time’ mode. Information is updated on monthly basis and, currently the system contains information about over 74,000 vacancies and 43,000 resumes of job-seekers.
The database of the Interactive Map of Social Services in Uzbekistan includes information about all social services providers of the Ministry of labour and social protection of population. In addition, the map includes information of over 400 NGO-based social services providers in the country, which were collected and analysed by the Project together with the Independent Institute for Monitoring the Formation of Civil Society (NIMFOGO). The users can leave a comment on the activities of the organisation and the quality of their services in the system.
Mr. Stefan Priesner, UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan:
On-line employment service labour.uz was developed with IESP support. It makes available to population all vacancies across the country gathered by the ministry via Internet and helps reducing time and resources of job-seekers in finding appropriate jobs.
About 40 thousand U.S. dollars have been spent for the elaboration and introduction of ‘Unified Information System’ ‘Labour Market’. Today already 45,000 people have placed their resume saving time and money. Now they do not need personally visit the Employment centres.
Mr. Aktam Haitov, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Uzbekistan:
UIS ‘Labour Market’, the main purpose of which is to automate the activities of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population and its 193 territorial units to provide effective promotion of employment and social protection, as well as providing information support and coordination of development of administrative decisions in the field of employment, is another example of successful cooperation with UNDP.
