UNDP selects best startup projects for the ‘Startup Initiatives’ programme

In mid-July, about 85 teams from all over Uzbekistan, having successfully passed preliminary selection, pitched their startup projects to experts. Based on the results of expert evaluations, about 30 best projects will get an opportunity to participate in the three-month Youth Startup Support Programme. The programme is implemented by UNDP and CCI ‘Business Forum of Uzbekistan (Phase III)’ joint project with the support of the Agency for Science and Technology and ‘Sasol’ company.

Over the years, she experienced and has overcome different challenges a woman entrepreneur faces. These days, Nilufar and more than 100 women entrepreneurs from all over Uzbekistan attended the first Republican Forum of Business Women held in Tashkent.

‘Startup Initiatives’ Programme: How is students' interest in business growing?

Compared to the previous cycle, the number of applications submitted has increased by 1.4, and the number of participating universities has reached 57.

The United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan commends Uzbekistan’s recent signing of the Paris Agreement on climate change. The Paris Agreement is the first-ever universal, legally binding global climate deal, which was adopted at the 21st Conference of Parties (COP 21) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris on 12 December 2015 and came into force in 2016. Uzbekistan, as a Party to UNFCCC, signed the Paris Agreement on 19 April 2017.
