The UNDP Governance Unit works to enhance the efficiency, transparency and accountability of government in Uzbekistan. Working in close cooperation with the executive, legislative and judiciary branches of government, in addition to national institutions and NGOs, the unit has worked to improve citizen access to public, social and legal services, decentralise the public administration system and enhance parliamentary capacity. The unit has also enhanced NGO-Government partnerships to support vulnerable women and people with disabilities, while working to address the HIV epidemic in Uzbekistan, promote volunteerism as a means for social change, and introduce economic diplomacy.
