Infographic - Open Data: Demanded Datasets and Lifecycle
Success of open data initiatives is measured not by the number of published datasets but by their practical usage. So disclosing highly demanded data is very important. Certain areas of public administration, in particular social policy, security, economic development, are of great interest to society.
International open data experts have identified 16 categories of "highly demanded" data for citizens and businesses around the world, such as traffic information, budget expenditures, environmental data, etc.
Releasing open data enhances transparency of government agencies, creates opportunity for public control, support development of new services, and improves the investment climate.
UNDP Egov Project has prepared infographics that lists most needed open data sets with recommended update periods. It also features open data lifecycle that visualizes potential effects from disclosing information from government databases.
