Practical Guideline for Cold Storage

September 4, 2013

The ‘Practical Guideline for Cold Storage’ has been developed for farmers and anyone who is interested in storing fruits and vegetables in cold rooms. The guideline prepared in Uzbek overviews central concepts in cold storage, which plays a key role in the process of transporting agricultural products from the fields to final consumers. The guideline offers a description of the key technologies required in cold rooms, and covers postharvest and cold storage techniques, the specific characteristics of products, product compatibility, and recommendations for pre-cooling and storing. The guideline has been developed within the framework of the ‘Aid for Trade’ component of the joint project of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan ‘Support to Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion in Uzbekistan’.
