Policy Brief #1, 2010 –Uzbekistan’s Textile Industry: How to Utilise Development Potential

This policy brief documents the efforts of undertaken by the Government of Uzbekistan in developing the nation’s textile industry, and the important achievements that have been made in this sphere. However, it also highlights a number of barriers related to the availability of cotton to local manufacturers, as well as the low marketability of produced fabric and apparel. Cotton and yarn remain two of Uzbekistan’s main export products, delivered to foreign markets with low added cost.
