Handbook on the Use of Propane as an alternative to HCFC 22 in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment

Handbook on the Use of Propane as an alternative to HCFC 22 in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment

June 14, 2017

This handbook presents the results of a comparison of the main refrigeration cycle indicators for HCFC 22 and propane (natural refrigerant), as well as the requirements and conditions for safe use of propane in small commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems as a major alternative to HCFC 22.

The advantage of propane is that it is possible to use it in both the systems, designed to work on propane and in systems, designed to operate on HCFC 22. This fact favorably distinguishes it in comparison with other alternative HCFCs, allowing under certain circumstances, to replace refrigerants not only in the new, but also in operating refrigeration equipment.
